US Election 2016

On November 8, 2016 the people of the USA will choose Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton as their next President. This election will be very different for two reasons; one is that for the first time in US history one of the contenders is a female. The second is that unlike previous elections where people voted for the person whom they most admired, trusted or thought most capable this time it is more the case that people are voting for the one they hate the least in order to stop the one they hate the most from getting elected. It has been likened to choosing a beauty queen in a leper colony, finding the one who is the least ugly and disfigured.

A lot has been written about why people hate Hillary and Trump I will not repeat what is easily available on the net. I will just focus on predicting who the winner will be.

The short answer is: Hillary Clinton will win.

The Long Answer

The birth information available for Hillary Clinton is very suspect and unreliable with at least two birth times given that are 12 hours apart as reported in the Astro Data Bank. Whereas the birth data for Donald Trump is more reliable.

Therefore we will concentrate more on his chart and what it reveals. First we notice that he will start his Guru (Jupiter) Mahadasha (planetary period) on 23 Oct, 2016. Times when a person shifts from one major period to another are tricky. Normally Guru period should be good but we note a few things - Guru is a maraka (creating impediments) due to being in the 2nd, he rules not only the beneficial 5th but also the negative 8th and he is aspected by Sani (Saturn) lord of 6th and 7th. And while Guru does aspect the 10th house the 10th lord is also in the 12th. However what is most notable is that in the Dasamsa chart Guru is in his nicasthan, sign of debilitation. Dasama is a varga chart that tells us about a person’s career, their status, accomplishments, fame etc. so it doesn’t augur well that just before the election Mr. Trump enters into a new major period where the planet is debilitated in the Dasamsa chart.

We also note that on August 11, 2016 Guru will transit out of Simha (Leo) and into Kanya (Virgo). Why is this significant? While it was in Simha Guru was protecting his Lagna (rising sign) that was being afflicted by both Sani and Rahu. With his departure from Simha Trump’s Lagna is no longer protected by Guru. And we can see that on election day while transit Guru is aspecting Trump’s Lagna lord Surya (Sun) in the 10th the malefic transits are much stronger as Sani afflicts five significators especially Lagna, Lagna lord who is also Surya and his Candra (Moon). These four (Lagna, Lagna lord, Surya and Candra) are the main pillars of any chart and to have them all simultaneously afflicted is not a formula for success. And Rahu will also be in Simha afflicting his Lagna a truly negative situation.

So on November 8th he will have negative Dasa-bhukti (Guru-Guru-Guru) with Guru in nica dasamsa and also negative transits. This doesn’t bode well for a victory for Trump.

Confirmed via Prasna

To confirm my suspicions I had also done a series of three Prasnas starting as far back as April 18, 2015 well before things started heating up and asked if Hillary would become the President and it was a clear-cut yes. This was before there was a decided Republican contender opposing her. Then I asked again on July 6, 2016 if Trump, the probable Republican nominee would win, the answer was negative. Then after both candidates were officially nominated I asked if Trump would win and it was again negative. So for me this clinched the result and confirmed what was happening in Trump’s own chart, that he would lose and Hillary will win.

I have not provided analysis of the prasna charts because I use a method not described in any text and do not wish to encourage unwanted Ekalavyas. Those who know prasna will be able to understand on their own.

I don’t always do such mundane predictions. Before doing so I always ask a prasna if I should or not. For the 2004 election it was positive to predict, but for the subsequent two elections the prasnas indicated not to. But this election the prasna gave a green light hence I have proffered my astrological opinion that Hillary Clinton will become the next president of the USA.

When in 2004 I made the unpopular prediction that Bush would win (Kerry was the heavy favorite) I got some hate mail and some people asked me if I would quit astrology if my prediction turned out wrong? Doubtless I may get similar questions now. My answer now would be the same today as was then.

Full disclosure I am not a US citizen, I have no relationship with either party.

Because of some very nasty and ugly comments from people gloating on my failed prediction I have decided to turn off the comments since I don't want to spend time moderating out all the ugliness.

I will have to remove all comments all across my site anyway because livefyre is now only supporting enterprize customers and I would have to find a different commenting solution in the very near future. So this is the first one I am removing.

The strange thing is that Hillary actually got more of the popular vote than Trump but still lost the election. Since I am not an American I don't know how it is that the person with the most votes doesn't always win but apprently that is how it can turn out in the US system.

As to the fact that I somewhere made a mistake and my prediction failed, that is life. I have had failed predictions in the past and no doubt there will be more in the future because like everyone else I make mistakes and am not Krsna. But because, by and far, I have a very good success rate I will continue. Yet for some reason some people seem to think that if an astrologer makes a mistake he should jump under a bus or at least give up astrology. I don't agree. If everybody who had a failure in life did that then where would we all be? For one thing there would be no doctors because they all have patients who die or can't be cured. And, the same holds true for all other professions Click on the link for further discussion on this topic.
